About

This site’s content is written solely by one person, Brian Zimmerman, head coach of Neenah High School Boys Volleyball. In four years, the program has grown from 12 players to 25 interested young men willing to play volleyball. I also coach the girls 15-1s team for Appleton Excel Volleyball Club in Appleton, WI for the USA Volleyball JO program. I’m a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association (WVCA), National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) and I’m a CAP II certified coach in USAV Volleyball.

I love the sport of volleyball and coach whenever I can.  In fact, my wife calls herself a volleyball widow for about 8 months of the year. I have a passion for spreading the word of the sport to young people in Wisconsin, as well as the United States and the rest of the World through the use of the Internet. My job will never be complete until volleyball is as popular in the United States as it is in other countries in the world.

I am always learning. I am not the type of coach that is set in his ways and closed off to new ideas and thoughts. I did not create this site as a way to tout my coaching experience or know-how above any other coach, although I share what I currently know. I did create this site to share ideas and learn from others and educate those who play, or those who are just getting into coaching. A fellow coach once told me, “Coaches are great thieves”. That means that we borrow drills, ideas and philosophies from others and gradually improve the methods with which we teach from year to year.

Feel free to teach me something new too, because as we all know, those who think they know everything, know nothing.
